Interested in getting a commission but not sure where to start?
This is the place! Make sure to read this entire page before filling out the commission form.
(Now would also be a great time to check out my Terms of Service here!)
How it Works
Step 1 - Decide What You Want
First thing's first - what sort of commission would you like?
Even if you're not 100% certain what you want your end piece to look like, it's a good idea to narrow your wishes down to 1 or 2 of my commission types.
Here are some questions you can ask yourself about your commission type that will help narrow things down:
Do I want a sketch commission or a fully-rendered commission?
Do I need the subject's whole body shown, or will a portrait or half body suffice?
Do I want this commission in the normal or chibi style?
Is my commission going to be used for anything specific (such as a social media icon) that might affect the size or type I need?
Keep in mind that if you truly have no preference on commission type, you can always choose your commission type around your budget!
Step 2 - Fill Out The Order Form
The next step is to read my Commission ToS and fill out the order form.
The more detailed you are on your form, the quicker I will be able to get a more accurate price for you and the quicker I can finish your commission exactly how you want it!
Don't have a specific vision in mind? Check the "POPify me" box on your commission form and I will go hog-wild and create a neon, colorful, totally dollipop commission based on your reference and price point. All you need to do is tell me the commission type you want and any vague dos/don'ts.
Step 3 - Get Your Quote & Pre-Pay
I will email you regarding your commission within 2 business days with any questions I have, as well as with a quote for what your request will cost.
At this time, you will be able to send me reference pictures or other supplemental descriptions of what you want, and we will discuss your commission further!
Afterwards, I will email you an invoice via PayPal. Depending on the price of the commission, you will be responsible for either half or all of the payment up-front - I will let you know during your quote which one! I do not begin work until this first payment is completed, but if you need to wait a couple of weeks/until your next paycheck before I begin, I have no problem with that, as long as you let me know beforehand!
Note that if you wait over 2 weeks to pay the invoice, I reserve the right to cancel your spot, especially if I have a waiting list!
Step 4 - Lean Back & Relax
Now it's time for me to work on your commission!
During the commission process, I include several times where I will ask for feedback or any changes you might need. Any changes after the phase has passed may incur additional fees.
Note that the process outlined below only applies to fully-rendered commissions - sketch commissions simply get one feedback stage after lines and one after colors.
Here are the stages where you will get a free change to your piece:
Rough sketch phase. This phase is me gathering my thoughts and coming up with a plan for how your commission might look. During this phase, changes to the entire commission are accepted (unless they bump it into a higher pricing category) - you can change poses, clothing, anything! This sketch is very rough.
Clean sketch phase. This phase is where I hammer out the first skeleton of what the finished piece will look like. During this phase, you can still change pretty much everything except the overall pose - expression, small pose changes like limb or head positions, clothing/accessories, hair style, etc can all be adjusted. Note that the sketch during this phase might still be fairly messy, but will still let you generally know how the finished piece will look.
Line art and color map phase. This phase is where I create the line art for your piece and show you what colors I plan on using. At this time, you can change small things about the line art of the commission, such as clothing, expression, etc. You can also change ANY colors you want at this time; even pick an entirely new palette! Once this stage is done, you won't be able to change anything about the character except for colors or finishing touches. Additionally, if you have only paid for half of your commission, this is the time where you will pay for the other half before I continue!
Coloring phase. This is where the magic happens and I fully finish your piece! After this phase, your picture is considered finished. You can change very small things before I send your final files over (simple background colors, adding more shading/highlights, etc).
Step 5 - Receive Your Artwork!
Once the piece is finalized, I will send you your finished piece via a dropbox link! There will be a folder with the full-size image, an Instagram-sized image, and any other sizes you've requested. Make sure to save your files to your own device, as I clean out my dropbox pretty regularly!
Now all that's left is to enjoy your artwork!
